Formaldehyde
Group 1 carcinogen found in plywood, particleboard, and standard adhesives. We use Agepan ECO OSB 3: no excess formaldehyde off-gassing, Passivhaus approved.
Petroleum adhesives
Conventional binders off-gas for years. Every adhesive in a BIOBUILDS home is organic-based. Zero petroleum compounds.
Synthetic vapor barriers
Plastic membranes trap moisture and degrade over time. Our wall system uses wood-fiber boards that manage vapor diffusion naturally.
Synthetic insulation
Polystyrene and spray foam trap moisture and degrade. STEICO wood fiber insulation breathes, performs, and is fully organic.
VOC sheathing
Standard OSB releases volatile organic compounds for years after installation. Agepan ECO OSB 3 is VOC-free and independently certified.
Toxic finishes
No synthetic paints, no chemical sealants, no off-gassing coatings. 98% of materials in your home are organic.
